The Design Publishing Extension is a modular enhancement to functionality in AutoCAD® 2002 and industry-specific applications based on AutoCAD 2002 software. Available only through the Autodesk® Subscription Program, extensions deliver the latest technology updates in easily digestible increments, making learning easier and faster.

Creating Drawing Sets
Feature Function Benefit
Drag and Drop Add sheets to the drawing set by dragging and dropping them from Microsoft® Internet Explorer. All layouts are automatically added to the drawing set. Familiar and intuitive method for quickly adding sheets to the drawing set.
Add/Remove Sheets Adding a drawing automatically includes all drawing layouts. You can add multiple drawings to one drawing set, and you can remove unnecessary layouts as needed. View and manage drawing set content quickly and easily.
Order Sheets Arrange drawings and layouts in the proper order for publishing to DWF? (Design Web Format?) or paper. Ensure that drawings can be read in the proper order.
Rename Sheets Default sheet names that include the drawing file and the layout names can be changed by clicking twice on the current name or by selecting the Rename option from the right-click menu. Descriptive sheet names enable someone who is unfamiliar with the drawing set to quickly review or update.
Drawing Lists Save a list of drawings and layouts in the correct order. You can load the list later for re-publishing or modification.  Save time and ensure consistency by reusing previous drawing set lists.
Context Menu A right-click context menu within the Publish Drawing Sheets dialog box provides easy access to sheet management tools. Save time by accessing the tools you need right at the point of work.
Log File An optional log file can be created listing the sheet name, layout name, full drawing file path and status for each sheet in the drawing set, enabling you to quickly analyze the publish/plot status of each drawing in the set. Save time and reduce errors and confusion resulting from incomplete or missing plots.
Automation The command line interface +PUBLISH enables you to pre-populate the Publish dialog box with an existing drawing set list.  The -PUBLISH command enables automation using scripts.  Save time by minimizing your interaction with the software.

Plotting
Feature Function Benefit
Batch Plot The new Publish functionality can be used to plot multiple drawings in the order specified by the drawing list. Create drawing plots in the proper order with minimal interaction.
Page Setup Plots are sent to the output device indicated in the page setup.  Each sheet can use its default page setup, or you can load a page setup from any other drawing or template file.  The plotting options indicated in the page setup, such as plot styles, are utilized. Plot to multiple devices using specific settings with minimal setup at plot time.  Even if you are unfamiliar with the drawings, you can easily create proper drawing sets with minimal instruction.
Plot File Location You can specify the directory where plotted-to-file sheets will be sent. Find all the plot files from the drawing set in one central location.

Publishing to DWF
Feature Function Benefit
Multi-Sheet DWF The new DWF6 format supports multi-sheet DWF files, enabling you to include all drawings from a drawing set in one DWF file.  Multi-page files can be easily viewed and printed in order with Autodeskˇ¦s free DWF viewer, Autodesk® DWF? Viewer. Minimize the number of files being transmitted and avoid confusion regarding file order for viewing and printing.
Password Protection Apply an optional password to the drawing sets created using the DWF file format. Drawings are secure because unauthorized personnel cannot view or print DWF-based drawings.
